Clarity

I wrote this piece as we started our Christmas trip to Chicago. The Illinois landscape was quite dreary, so I tried to capture that. At the time, I also added to the bottom of this piece "I am not sad, merely an observer to the sad landscape". Truly, my mood wasn't affected by my observations. But the visions I saw drew me to pencil and pad. I couldn't help but try to capture it.

As an aside, my wonderful husband bought me a pen and pencil set and a leather-bound journal for Christmas. My writer's soul was delighted, but that is my romantic and thoughtful husband.
