The inspiration for this piece came while I was visiting my friend, Karen, in Indiana. She loaned me a book which referenced another book about the great cathedrals of Europe. And the thought of laboring day after day and realizing you would never see the end result intrigued me. In some ways, we do that with instilling values in our children. But we don't usually start concrete projects to that end. So, A Great Cathedral is written with all those craftsmen and laborers for which we will never know their name. Their skill and sacrifice are evidenced in the beauty and majesty of the cathedrals they built.
Blessings,
JJJ
