Called to Grace--January 2010

Some of the best moments that have lifted my heart are when Dan is interacting with Em, Nick and Sam. When he was working on that first faith chest, he had the kids out in the garage and their heads would all be bent over those pieces of wood, sanding and staining. What a good father he is to our children.

But the moment that inspired me this month was over the summer. The twins played on a YMCA baseball team with their friend Alec. Now Alec doesn't live in our neighborhood. He live a couple of miles away and on the other side of Dorsett from us. The kids wanted to spend time together. After all, Alec has woods behind his house...the perfect place for three twelve-year-old boys. They wanted to ride their bikes there. They hadn't ridden their bikes much so Dan helped them get their bikes in order. He made them wear their helmets and then he rode with them to find the safest route to ride to Alec's house. They spend many adventurous afternoons at Alec's house after that creating an elfin kingdom; much to their young hearts content as found in Lord of the Rings.

And that got me to thinking: how very much like our Heavenly Father. He equips us for our journey with His word. He warns us of the dangers. He shows us the way to follow, through Jesus. Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. And then; then He trusts us enough to let us go. He makes sure we have everything we need and with His blessing, we fly. God made us and equipped us for a grand adventure. He has prepared us for our journey to His kingdom. One where our earthly imagination falls short of its full glory.

Make this one of your resolutions: God has invited you, partake of His adventure.

God's blessings,
JJJ
