Clarity

This is another earlier piece. I wrote this for my dad. I grew up without him so when I was able to connect as an adult, the time was very precious to me. In many ways, he was a wonderful example. I think I get my volunteer spirit from him. And while he had no "higher" education, he'd pick up a manual and then wire his house. I regret not finding out about his childhood. Not until his funeral did I find out that he saved his brother's life. It was also then that I found out my grandmother ran back into their burning tar paper shack (yes, tar paper) to save the trunk of clothes for her sons....all they had. Stories like that really open one's eyes and I've missed so much of it.
